Terms of sale and use
Effective 16 October 2026.
These terms cover paid web access to the study app at study.aviationwrittenexam.com. Please read them before you buy.
The short version
- We sell you web access and run the study app. Stripe processes your card payment.
- Web access is sold to buyers in Canada and the United States only.
- You get access to one exam for 6 months, starting when you buy.
- Your licence key works on up to 3 browsers or devices at the same time. Signing out of a device frees its place.
- Access is for your own study. Do not share your key. Do not copy, scrape, resell or republish the questions, explanations or other content.
- Each day you can see 150 new questions (220 for the flight dispatcher exams, so both papers fit in one day) and open 40 new study notes. Reviewing questions and notes you have already seen is not limited. Section 6 has all the limits.
- Refunds follow our refund policy.
- We are independent of Transport Canada, the FAA and every other authority. The questions are original practice questions, not official exam questions. Check the current regulations. We cannot promise that you will pass.
- Nothing here limits your rights under the consumer protection law that applies to you.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
"We", "us" and "our" mean Aviation Exam Prep. We run the website aviationwrittenexam.com and the study app at study.aviationwrittenexam.com (the "study app").
These terms cover paid web access to the study app ("web access"). They do not cover the free practice tests on our website or the apps on the App Store.
Web access is separate from the apps. It does not unlock them. An App Store purchase does not unlock web access.
By buying or using web access, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not buy it.
2. Who sells it, and how you pay
We sell web access. Your card payment is processed by Stripe, a payment company. Stripe handles your card details, and we never receive them. Stripe emails you a receipt in our name.
Web access is sold only to buyers in Canada and the United States. Checkout does not open from other countries. If a payment's billing address is outside Canada and the United States, we refund it in full and no key is issued.
Refunds follow our refund policy. We make them through Stripe, back to the card you paid with.
3. What you get
Each web access product covers one exam:
- PPL Prep - Web Access: Transport Canada's private pilot licence written exam (PPAER).
- CPL Prep - Web Access: the commercial pilot licence written exam (CPAER).
- INRAT Prep - Web Access: the instrument rating written exam (INRAT).
- SARON Prep - Web Access: the airline transport pilot licence exam SARON.
- SAMRA Prep - Web Access: the airline transport pilot licence exam SAMRA.
- Dispatch Prep - Web Access: the flight dispatcher exams (FDOPS and FDMET).
- Private Pilot Prep (FAA) - Web Access: the FAA private pilot airplane knowledge test (PAR).
For the product you buy:
- Access: 6 months, starting when you buy. Access starts straight away.
- Price: the price shown on the exam's page and at checkout, in Canadian dollars. Checkout shows the total, including any sales tax that applies, before you pay. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the amount and may add its own foreign-currency fee.
- Licence key: one key. It is shown once, on the page you land on after paying, and the browser you paid on is signed in. Keep a copy of the key: you need it to sign in on another browser or device. It works on up to 3 browsers or devices at the same time (see section 4).
- What is included: practice questions with explanations, study notes, timed mock exams and a record of your progress, for that one exam.
It is a single payment. It does not renew by itself. When your access period ends, your key stops working.
You must be old enough to make a contract where you live. If you are not, a parent or guardian must buy it for you and agree to these terms.
4. Your key and your devices
Your licence key works on up to 3 browsers or devices at the same time. Each browser or device you sign in on uses one place.
To free a place, sign out on that browser or device. You can then sign in somewhere else. If you clear your browser data without signing out first, that browser still uses one of your places. Once a browser or device has gone 30 days without being used, its place is freed the next time you sign in somewhere else. If you get stuck, for example because you lost a device, email us and we will try to help.
Keep your key private. You are responsible for what happens with it. If you lose it, or never saw it, choose "Lost your key?" in the study app. Enter the email address you paid with, the receipt number and the last 4 digits of the card, all shown on your Stripe receipt, and the study app gives you a new key. Your old key then stops working, and browsers and devices already signed in stay signed in. If you still cannot get a key, email us with your receipt number and we will sort it out.
5. How you may use it
We give you a personal licence to use the study app and its content to study for the exam during your access period. The licence is not exclusive. It cannot be transferred.
Web access is for personal use only. Your own short notes for your own study are fine. Otherwise, you must not:
- share your key, or let anyone else use your sign-in;
- sell, rent, lend or give away your key or your access;
- copy, record or save the questions, answers, explanations or other content;
- scrape the study app, or use bots, scripts or any other automated access;
- republish or pass on any of the content, in whole or in part, on a website, in a group chat, in a course or in another app;
- use the content to build another question bank, course, app or dataset;
- get around the limits in these terms, or try to break into or overload the study app.
The study app, and its questions, answers and explanations, belong to us. These terms give you the right to use them. They do not give you ownership.
6. Fair-use limits
These limits protect our questions from being copied. Most students stay well under them. The daily limits start again at midnight, Toronto time.
- New questions. You can see 150 new questions a day (220 for the flight dispatcher exams, so both papers fit in one day). A new question is one your key has not been shown before. New questions in a mock exam count when you start it. A new question you skip still counts. Generated practice that comes as a set, such as a nav log, a flight plan, a load sheet, a chart or a set of weather reports, counts in full as soon as its first question is shown. Questions you have already been shown do not count, so reviewing them is not limited.
- Study notes. You can open 40 study notes a day that you have not opened before. Notes you have opened before do not count.
- Figures. The images shown with some questions, such as charts and sheets, have a daily limit of their own: 400 a day, or 8 for each new question counted that day if that is more.
- Rate limits. We limit how many requests a key, or a network address, can make in a short time. Normal studying will not reach this limit. If you reach it, wait a little and try again.
7. If the rules are broken
If you break section 5 or section 6, we may disable your key. We will not refund you.
We may also disable a key if the records we keep (see section 11) show signs of sharing or copying, for example unusual speed or volume of requests. If you think we disabled your key by mistake, email us. If we got it wrong, we will turn it back on.
Access also ends when your access period ends, or when a payment for it is refunded in full, disputed or reversed.
8. About the content
- We are independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a publication of Transport Canada, NAV CANADA, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or any other authority. Exam names are used only to say which exam a trainer prepares you for.
- The practice questions are original. They are not official exam questions.
- Rules and figures change. Always check against the current regulations and official publications: for the Canadian exams, the Canadian Aviation Regulations and the Transport Canada Aeronautical Information Manual; for the FAA exam, the FAA's regulations and handbooks.
- Charts and plates in our apps and in the study app are fictional. Some questions and generated documents (nav logs, flight plans, load sheets and weather reports) name real aerodromes, but the flights, winds and weather in them are invented for practice. None of it is for navigation.
- The study app is a study tool. It is not flight training. Never use it to plan or fly a flight.
- We cannot guarantee that you will pass any exam.
9. The service and changes to it
We work to keep the study app running. We cannot promise that it will always be available or free of errors. We may fix or replace questions and explanations, change features, or pause the service for maintenance.
If you find a mistake in a question or an explanation, please tell us at [email protected].
If the study app was unavailable to you for a significant time, our refund policy says what we will do.
10. Payment and refunds
Checkout is run by Stripe. It shows the price, the currency and any sales tax before you pay. Stripe takes the payment and emails your receipt.
Access starts as soon as you buy. By buying, you ask us to start it straight away. Our refund policy says when you can get your money back. To ask, email us.
If a payment is refunded in full, disputed with your bank or card company, or reversed, your key is disabled. It stays disabled, even if you enter it again. A partial refund, such as one for time lost to an outage, does not disable it.
11. Your data
To run the study app and to detect and stop copying, we keep records about your key, including:
- a one-way hash of your key, and Stripe's ID numbers for your checkout and your payment;
- a one-way hash of the email address you paid with, used only to give you a new key if you lose yours, and the country of your billing address;
- a record of each browser or device that uses it;
- your study progress and your mock exam results;
- a log of the questions and study notes shown to your key; and
- daily counts of the new questions, notes and figures it has used.
Our privacy page explains what we keep, why, and for how long.
12. Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer protection law that applies to you.
Within that:
- The study app is provided as it is. We do not promise that it is complete or free of mistakes.
- We are responsible only for direct losses caused by our fault. We are not responsible for other losses, such as exam fees, training costs or lost time.
- Our total responsibility to you for any claim about the study app is limited to the price you paid for your access.
None of this limits any responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit.
13. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. A change applies to purchases made after the change. For a key you have already bought, the terms in force when you bought it keep applying. The exceptions are a change the law requires and a change that is in your favour.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Courts in Ontario can hear disputes about them. If the consumer protection law that applies to you lets you go to court where you live, you keep that right.
Before anyone goes to court, please email us. Most problems can be sorted out quickly.
If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms, our refund policy and our privacy page are the whole agreement between you and us about web access.
